These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Word Hooks platform and services ("Service"). By accessing or using Word Hooks, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Use of the Service

Word Hooks is an AI-powered vocabulary learning platform designed to help you learn and review English words using memory hooks, dictionary data, and progress tracking. You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

2. Accounts and Authentication

To use certain features, you may need to log in using third-party OAuth providers (such as Google or GitHub) via Supabase. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. User Content

You may create or store content in the Service, including saved words, notes, and custom word lists ("User Content"). You retain any rights you have to your User Content. By using the Service, you grant Word Hooks a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

4. AI-Generated Content

Word Hooks uses AI models to generate memory hooks and related learning content. AI-generated output may occasionally be inaccurate or inappropriate. You should use your own judgment when relying on AI-generated content, and you agree that Word Hooks is not liable for any decisions or outcomes based on such content.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
• Attempt to access data or systems you are not authorized to use.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except as permitted by law.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying technology, is owned by the Word Hooks team or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights to the Service or its content, except for your own User Content.

7. Third-Party Services

Word Hooks relies on third-party services such as Supabase and OAuth providers. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or their actions.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Word Hooks and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

10. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your local jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law principles, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
