Why install the WordHooks extension?

🌐

Learn on any webpage

No more copy-pasting into a separate tab. Select a word wherever you're reading β€” an article, an email, a PDF in the browser β€” and look it up on the spot.

🧠

Instant memory hooks

Get an AI-generated mnemonic the moment you meet a tricky word, while the context is still fresh in your mind.

🌱

Similar-root words

Discover other English words that share the same root, so one lookup teaches you a whole word family.

πŸ›οΈ

Cultural background

Learn the history, customs, or associations behind a word β€” the kind of context a dictionary definition alone won't give you.

❓

Ask follow-up questions

Still unsure? Ask the AI anything about the word directly from the tooltip, without leaving the page.

πŸ”„

Syncs with your account

Every word you save shows up in My Words on wordhooks.com immediately β€” pick up studying on any device.

πŸ”‘

Bring your own AI key

Connect OpenRouter, Hugging Face, or Google AI Studio with your own API key. Your lookups go straight from your browser to your provider β€” nothing routes through WordHooks' servers.

πŸ—£οΈ

Multi-language support

Use the extension's menus and AI responses in English, Chinese, Korean, or Spanish β€” pick your language once in Settings.
