Word Hooks ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered vocabulary learning platform that helps users systematically learn English words using memory hooks, dictionary data, and progress tracking.   • Learning Activity & Content: saved words and their indexes, word status (learning/mastered/skipped), notes, custom word lists and metadata, and NER tagging information.
  • Usage Data: pages visited and interactions within the app, along with timestamps.
  • Technical Data: basic log and diagnostic data collected by our hosting and database providers.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and operate the Word Hooks platform.
  • Authenticate you using Supabase OAuth providers.
  • Store and sync your saved words, lists, notes, and learning status.
  • Improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Maintain security and comply with legal obligations.

3. AI & Memory Hooks

Word Hooks uses AI models (for example, local Ollama models) to generate memory hooks for words. The AI operates primarily on the word and related dictionary information. We do not use your personally identifiable information as part of AI prompts for memory hooks.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and/or local storage to maintain your login session and store basic UI and learning preferences. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features may not work properly without them.

5. Data Storage & Security

We store user data primarily in Supabase (PostgreSQL) and use a separate SQLite database for AI-generated memory hooks. We apply Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure that users can access only their own data and follow best practices for secret management and input validation.
